Balkan Underground Sounds & debat

The Balkan Buro presents: BALKAN UNDERGROUND SOUNDS* at Schijnheilig, 5th june 2010.

This day the best alternative acts from the Balkan, who are rarely to be seen in the west, will visit Schijnheilig to give a "blazin' " performance of the finest balkan music. It will be dancing-time in Schijnheilig until the late hours.

Exclusively for this event Schijnheilig will close hours later than normal! But full = full. Be sure not to miss this evening and be on time! And don't miss the debate at eight o'clock!

20:00 - 21:00:"Creating European Communities?"

Schijnheilig uses this opportunity to reflect upon the possibilities and risks of involving artists, musicians and other forms of cultural expression in promoting political communities. In this debate, that will open the Balkan Underground Sounds night at Schijnheilig, we have invited three speakers to reflect upon these questions: Zoran Djukanovic, Giusy Chierchia and Joost Baars. Rechtszaak gaat niet door – ontruiming van de baan

De ontruiming van Schijnheilig aan de Passeerdersgracht is voorlopig van de baan. De Officier van Justitie heeft, op advies van de landsadvocaat, de aanklacht van huisvredebreuk tegen de krakers van De Hallen en Schijnheilig ingetrokken. De rechtszaak van vrijdag zal dan ook niet doorgaan. Wat wel doorgaat is de programmering van Schijnheilig, zo kun je vanavond naar Weerzin en morgen opent de expositie Cleaving (met live muziek van Tramelant!). Komt Allen!

Opening Exhibition: “Groups” by Maarten Tromp

An exhibition with photography and film. With this series Maarten Tromp explores the public space in and around the urban landscape where people seek shelter within different groups. It is an examination on how these groups relate to their surroundings and in what way they deal with the notion of individuality.

Queeristan 2010

QueerNL is initiating Queeristan 2010, a weekend devoted to discussion workshops on queer politics in The Netherlands, forming of action groups on specific themes, a Queer Pride march, and of course a queer party.
